Re-Education Day: Exploring The Role of Educators in Sexual Assault

**DUE TO THE CLOSING OF YORK UNIVERSITY ON MARCH 24TH FOR WEATHER, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED FOR A LATER DATE**

Silence is Violence is hosting a second Re-Education Day. Re-Education Day seeks to provide educators with the tools and guidance to better support students/colleagues who disclose sexual assault, provide pedagogical exercises for exploring rape culture in the classroom and on campus and to create dialogue between TA's, faculty and service providers. 

Lunch will be provided to attendees. 

We ask those attending, to please be available for the duration of the day. Registration is limited to 25 people and pre-registration is required. Please e-mail sivyork@gmail.com to register. Details about the campus location and the schedule will be provided to those who register. 

Preliminary schedule:

  • Panel of survivors - discussing language, critical consent education and the role of staff, faculty and educators post-assault. 
  • What is happening at York University? An exploration of policy development and resources available on campus.
  • Radical campus tours - how can we utilize our course material to examine what is happening on campus. 
  • Exploring our experiences - how can we address rape culture on campus?
